Breakroom service in Doraville
Doraville, where Buford Highway meets I-285, was long home to the General Motors Doraville Assembly plant. After the plant closed and was demolished in 2015, the 135-acre site became Assembly Atlanta, a mixed-use studio development led by Gray Television. Its 43-acre Assembly Studios campus, operated with NBCUniversal, sits beside Third Rail Studios, and the two are expected to employ more than 4,000 people once fully running. Serta Simmons Bedding opened its headquarters on the same former GM land, with more than 500 workers in one office building. Beyond the studios, small and mid-sized businesses line Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, and the Doraville MARTA station connects the city to rail and Ride Gwinnett buses.
Production schedules rarely follow office hours, and the soundstages, production offices, warehouses and mill space at Assembly need food that is ready whenever a break is called. AI smart coolers handle that well because they run unattended: workers tap a card, take what they want, and cameras and sensors charge automatically while the door stays locked until someone pays. Corporate offices with a steady headcount can support a full micro market with fresh meals, snacks and drinks. The auto shops, food businesses and light industrial buildings around town often do best with cashless snack and drink vending, or a smart cooler placed near the time clock.
VendGO is locally owned in Alpharetta and runs regular routes through Doraville and the rest of north DeKalb. Owner Trent Reynolds started the company in January 2025 so businesses could deal with a local operator instead of a call center, and every account gets two dedicated account managers and a two-hour response time. Equipment, installation and service are $0, there is no long-term contract, and service is month-to-month after a two-month trial. When employees want something new, they request it by QR code and we fill it within 3 days. Employers can subsidize prices to make the breakroom part of the benefits package.
